Hello. I am a Professor of Operations Research in the Department of Mathematics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
I received a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1986, a Master in Business Administration in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Operations Research in 1993, both from the Graduate School of Management of Rutgers University, New Jersey, U.S.A. From 1994 to 2004 I was an Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Operations of Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Since 2003 I have been with the Department of Mathematics of the University of Athens, as an Associate Professor (2003-2012) and Professor (2012-present) of Stochastic Operations Research.
My teaching interests include Operations Research, Probability and Statistics, and Stochastic Modeling. I have taught several courses in these areas in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Department of Mathematics. I have also taught graduate courses in Linear Models, Operations Research and Management Science, Queueing Theory, etc. in graduate programs coorganized by the department of Mathematics and other departments or universities, such as the Medical School of the University of Athens (graduate program in Biostatistics), the department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (graduate program in Business Mathematics), etc. From 2008 to 2014 I served as vice-director and director of the graduate program in Biostatistics coorganized by the University of Athens (Department of Mathematics and Medical School) and the University of Ioannina (Department of Mathematics). I have supervised more than 30 master theses in the University of Athens. I have also supervised or co-supervised 7 doctoral theses at Case Western Reserve University and 2 at the University of Athens.
My research interests are in the areas of Operations Research, Adaptive Optimization and Experimentation under Uncertainty, Stochastic Modeling, and applications in Production and Service Management. I have publised papers in international journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Mathematics of Operations Research, Queueing Systems, IIE Transactions, Annals of Operations Research. I have organized an international conference in Stochastic Modeling in 2010 and have been in the scientific and organizing committees of several international conferences. I have refereed papers for many journals in the field of Operations Research and Applied Probability, including Operations Research, Management Science, European Journal of Operations Research, OR SpektBulletin of the Hellenic Mathematical Societyrum, IIE Transactions, Annals of Operations Research, etc.
