• Ilias is Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, School of Law, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2018-). He started his academic carreer with the same School as a Lecturer (1989); Assistant Professor (1996), Associate Professor (2009). 
  • He was called to the Athens Bar in 1983 and heads Athens-based law firm Anagnostopoulos focusing on all aspects of business crime and criminal risk management.
  • Since July 2013 he chairs the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association; from 2007 to 2013 he chaired the Criminal Law Committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), Brussels.
  • His numerous publications in Greek, English and German focus on most aspects of business crimes, international and European criminal law, the reform of criminal procedure, human rights and crime policy.
