Methodological and statistical quality of research in applied (sports) biomechanics

This project aims at quantitatively assessing the methodological and statistical quality profile of more than 400 published studies on sports - applied Biomechanics. The study is being carried-out in collaboration with Dimitria Palaiothodorou, a current PhD student under my supervision. The aim is to statistically assess potential flaws - weaknesses - deficits in the methodology and the statistics used in applied - sports biomechanics research since 1985. From this project a first paper has been published in the International Journal of Exercise Science: Vagenas, G., Palaiothodorou, D., & Knudson, D. (2018). Thirty-year trends of study design and statistics in applied sports and exercise biomechanics research. International Journal of Exercise Science, 11(1), 239-259.
