Ioannis Tigelis, born 1964 at Lamia, completed his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens in 1986. He received a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1990. Then, he joined the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as a Lecturer in 1992. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1997, to Associate Professor in 2005 and became Full Professor in 2015. He was director of the Section of Electronic Physics and Systems from 2011 till 2020 and director of the Laboratory of Computers from 2011 till 2019. He is participating in Fusion activities (projects EUROfusion and F4E grants). His research interests include theory and applications of high-power microwave sources, propagation and scattering of electromagnetic waves in various media (including dielectric and metallic waveguides, anisotropic and inhomogeneous media), and boundary values problems in nanostructures. He has published more than 170 papers in scientific journals and international conferences.
