Katerina Carvounis studied Classics at the University of Cambridge and at the University of Oxford (DPhil, 2005). She was awarded a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship, which she held at Murray Edwards College and the Faculty of Classics, Cambridge (2005-2008), where she continued as an Affiliated Lecturer (2008-2011). Since 2012 she has been a Faculty member at the Department of Philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Her research interests focus on the epic tradition from the archaic period to the late antiquity and on the Greek literature, education, and culture in the Roman period. Her main publications include A Commentary on Quintus of Smyrna, Posthomerica 14 (Oxford, 2019) and she has most recently co-edited (with S. Papaioannou and G. Scafoglio), Latin Literature and Later Greek Poetry: Further Explorations (Boston / Berlin, 2023) and (with A. Gavrielatos, G. Karla and A. Papathomas), Cyprus in Texts from Graeco-Roman Antiquity (Brill, 2023).
