Mitochondrial selective autophagy, known as mitophagy, mediates the removal of dysfunctional and/or superfluous organelles, preserving cellular and organismal homeostasis (Palikaras and Tavernarakis, 2014; Pickrell and Youle, 2015; Scheibye-Knudsen et al., 2015). In this protocol, we describe a method for assessing mitophagy in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.</style>
<accession-num><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">28405595</style></accession-num><notes><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Palikaras, KonstantinosTavernarakis, Nektarioseng233358/European Research Council/InternationalBio Protoc. 2017 Apr 5;7(7). doi: 10.21769/BioProtoc.2215.</style></notes><custom2><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">PMC5386141</style></custom2><auth-address><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Crete, Greece.Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Crete, Greece; Department of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Crete, Crete, Greece.</style></auth-address></record></records></xml>
