Biography

Palynologist with expertise on the study of pollen and non pollen palynomorphs from terrestrial and marine deposits. 
I am appointed to the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment NKUA since 2013, currently holding the position of Associate Professor of Palaeontology-Palaeobotany-Geoarchaeology. My research is focused on Quaternary vegetation of the Mediterranean and vegetation response to climatic changes.  Significant part of my activities considers human impact on vegetation and the study of Holocene cultural and natural landscapes. I have participated in several research projects of both geological and archaeological interest including numerous archaeological excavations. Currently, I am participating in the IODP Exp. 381: Corinth Active Rift Development Science group and I am involved in the ICDP-SCOPSCO (Scientific Collaboration On Past Speciation Conditions in lake Ohrid) palynology group. My research work has been published in international scientific journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. My teaching record includes the subjects of palaeobotany, palynology and geoarcheaology to undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Departments of Geology and Geoenvironment and Biology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
