Antonios Argyris, MD, MSc, PhD is Assistant Professor of Pathophysiology in the Clinic and Laboratory of Pathophysiology, Laiko Hospital, School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

He is a certified Clinical Hypertension Specialist of the European Society of Hypertension since 2022.

He has worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science, University of Liverpool, supported by a research scholarship from the Hellenic Atherosclerosis Society.

He holds a PhD in the field of central hemodynamics and subclinical cardiovascular damage, conducted at the First Department of Propaedeutic Internal Medicine and Clinic/Laboratory of Pathophysiology. Moreover, he holds an MSc in Molecular and Applied Physiology from NKUA.

After completing his residency program in Internal Medicine, he served as an Academic Fellow and Consultant in the National Health System at “Laiko” General Hospital and “Alexandra” General Hospital of Athens. 

His research focuses on the clinical and laboratory investigation of the cardiovascular system, with particular emphasis on vascular physiology and pathophysiology, especially the role of central hemodynamic parameters and subclinical target-organ damage. He has authored numerous scientific publications in international and Greek peer-reviewed journals and has contributed chapters to both Greek and international academic books. He serves as a reviewer for several international scientific journals and as Guest Editor for three special issues. His research activity has repeatedly received funding through research grants and fellowships.

Dr. Argyris has a special clinical interest in the management of hypertension, dyslipidemias, primary cardiovascular prevention, as well as secondary stroke prevention. 

Since 2017, he has been actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, as well as in the training of residents and specialists. He has been invited as a speaker and discussant at numerous scientific congresses, seminars and webinars.
