Her bachelor's degree was conducted in the School of Agriculture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the Department of Food Science and Technology. She completed an inter-university and transnational master’s degree specializing in "Food Biotechnology" from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Patras, the Department of Chemistry at the University of Ioannina, and the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Ulster University in the United Kingdom (2012). Her Ph.D. research was conducted in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Patras, specializing in "Food Chemistry and Technology," with a dissertation titled "Bioprocesses in the Production of Probiotic Dairy Products with Immobilized Lactic Acid Bacteria on Prebiotic Carriers" (2017). She has received scholarships and awards from national and international organizations (IKY-Siemens Scholarship, Innovation Award at TechConnect World Innovation Conference & Expo – National & Global Innovation Award for the project titled “Dairy industry starter culture production through whey valorization for multiple applications,” Washington DC, June 2015). Her research activities focus on Food Chemistry, with a significant emphasis on fermented food production through industrial bioprocesses, the development of novel functional foods, and the valorization of agri-food by-products to create value-added new products. Dr. Terpou has co-authored 52 articles published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, 7 book chapters, and presented at over 50 conferences (including 3 as an invited speaker). She has participated in numerous achieved and ongoing European or nationally funded research programs.
