Dr. Dalla’s research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms mediating male and female vulnerability to stress-related mental illnesses, such as depression, as well as sex differences in treatment response. Dr. Dalla currently investigates the role of neurosteroids and neural circuits in sex differences in depression with the use of pharmacological, behavioral, neurochemical, structural and molecular methods. Dr. Dalla has earned two Marie Curie fellowships, a L’Oreal-Unesco award for Greek young women in science and she has been invited to give several lectures in national and international meetings. She has participated in several GSRT research grants (PENED, Co-operation ESPA) and currently she is the scientist in charge for a post-doctoral grant and member of a multidisciplinary consortium for the pharmacological screening of new CNS-acting molecules.
