Biography

Born in Thessaloniki, 1967. School Age in Alexandroupolis.
1990: Bachelor degree in Physics, Department of Physics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athesns (NKUA).
1996: PhD in Physics, Department of Physics, NKUA.
3/1996-9/1997: military service.

1998-2002: Istituto Nazionale per la Fisica della Materia (Italy) research fellowships, at Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, and at Dipartimento di Fisica, Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Modena, studying low-dimensional structures, electronic, optical and transport properties, with or without magnetic field.

2000-2002: Associate Professor on contract, Demokritos University of Thrace, mainly at Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Alexandroupolis.

2002-2005: Marie Curie Fellowship, Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, Special Lab of Non-Invasive Brain Imaging, Magdeburg, Germany, studying the human auditory cortex.

2005-2008: Assistant Professor on contract, University of Patras, Materials Science Department, studying optical properties of quantum wells, DNA, magnetic heterostructures.

2005-2011: various short research projects with Physics Department, NKUA, optical & transport properties in quantum wells & quantum dots.

2007-2011: Research fellowship with D level researcher qualifications, Institute of Materials Science, NCSR Demokritos, Athens, studying semiconductors doped with magnetic impurities.

2011: for one semester, Lecturer on contract, University of Peloponnese.

Various other occupations during all these years.

From 2 Jan 2012 - 25 Oct 2021, Assistant Professor of Theoretical Solid State Physics, Department of Physics, NKUA.

From 26 Oct 2021, Associate Professor of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Department of Physics, NKUA.

Research interests in Nanostructures and Biomaterials. Biophysics: Electronic structure, charge transfer and transport in nucleic acids and other organic systems. Molecular structure. Biomaterials: Novel oligomers and polymers based on bioelements. Carbon allotropes. Spintronics: Magnetic properties of diluted magnetic semiconductors and of their nanostructures. Critical temperature. Quantum Optics: Coherence. Rabi oscillations in multi-level systems. Optical properties of quantum dots, quantum wells, and so on, with or without magnetic field. Semiconductor nanostructures: electronic stucture, transport, thermodynamics. Ab initio and Tight binding calculations as tools.
