Dionysios Reisis is Professor at the Department of Physics of NKUA. He is the leader of the Digital Systems Team of the Electronics Lab of the Physics Dpt since 1991. He has also collaborated as a research associate with the Telecoms Lab of The Electrical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) from 1990 till 2004. He has served as Director of the Interdepartmental MSc Program specializing in ``Electronics and Radioelectrology” and in ``Control and Computing’’ of the NKUA’s Physics and Informatics and Telecommunications Departments.

He has more than 30 years of extensive experience in the design and the development of parallel architectures, mapping of algorithms on parallel systems and high performance SIMD computations and their applications in signal, image and video processing as well as in architectures of telecommunication and network nodes.

He has been involved as PI in several R&D projects funded by the EU and the Greek government (GSRT) and lately by ESA. His role was/is mainly in leading design groups for developing high throughput systems targeting real-time performance. In the ESA project the DST team designed and developed high speed modules for FPGA and CNN based image processing in space-grade processor-based accelerators. Former projects were in the areas of telecommunication and data centers Gbit switches and network nodes, Gbit physical layer architectures for 5G, H.264 and H.265 encoders/decoders. He was the scientific coordinator of a four MSc students team winner of the 2022 European competition ``Renesas Virtual MCU Rally”.
He has published more than 100 scientific publications. He has supervised 7 graduated Ph.D. students. Currently, there are more than 1600 citations that refer to his published material and his h-index is 18.
