  1. 1976-1981: Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Food Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, NKUA. During these years I attended the full program of training seminars and courses on Biochemistry, conducted by the faculty members and research fellows.
  2. Attendance of the educational program on Clinical Chemistry, organized by the Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry-Clinical Biochemistry, and possession of the “Certificate of Competence”. -        Development and implementation of risk calculation software for Down syndrome screening in the 1st trimester and 2nd trimester of pregnancy

Research projects

-        Evaluation of 1st and 2nd trimester screening programs for fetal chromosomal abnormalities. (Influence of various parameters on screening results. Establish­ment of reference ranges for biochemical markers, research for new biochemical markers and development of risk calculation software)

-        The influence of hormone replacement therapy on biochemical and hormonal parameters of postmenopausal women

-        Studies of cytokines in maternal serum during pregnancy, parturition and in newborns

-        Prospective study of biochemical and ultrasound markers in pregnancy, aimed to prognosis of adverse pregnancy outcomes and especially the development of hypertension and pre-eclampsia

  1. Founding member of Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry-Clinical Biochemistry (GSCC-CB) 1988
  2. 2.      President of the GSCC-CB:                   2001 to 2008

As President of the GSCC-CB, I encouraged and introduced an education and training program on Clinical Chemistry, on which a volunteer Greek Register for professionals in Clinical Chemistry was established in 2004. In 2005, the standards of the Greek Register were accepted as equivalent to the standards of the European Register.
