George S. Tombras received his undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in Physics from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece, his M.Sc. degree in Electronics from the University of Southampton, UK, and the Ph.D. degree in Physics from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, in 1979, 1981, and 1988 respectively. In 1991, he joined the Dept of Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and since 2011 is Professor of Electronics and Director of the Laboratory of Electronic Physics and Systems.
Professor Tombras has a good academic record in both teaching and research. He has published more than 200, both journal and conference refereed papers in the areas of his interests, including Wireless and Mobile Communications, Free Space Optical Communications, Analogue and Digital Circuits and Systems, Audio Engineering, Delta and Delta-Sigma modulation systems, Chaotic operation in Electronic Systems, as well as Physics Education Research. His overall research activities are recognized internationally by his peers, as evidenced by the number of more than 3000 citations (excluding self-citations of all co-authors), a number of invited lectures, and his membership in Editorial Boards of several prestigious International Journals and Scientific committees of international conferences.
