Maria Triantaphyllou is Full Professor of Micropaleontology-Paleoenvironment-Stratigraphy and Head of the Laboratory of Historical Geology-Paleontology at the Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. She holds M.Sc. in Regional Development (Panteion University Athens) and Ph.D. in Geology (NKUA). She is Invited Professor at the postrgraduate program of the Faculty of Geosciences, University of Lille, France. Carried or coordinated several national and international research projects. Her research interests focus on Micropaleontology and Environmental Micropaleontology, Stratigraphy and facies analysis, Paleoceanography and Paleoclimate, Marine Geosciences, BioGeoscience. More than 120 published papers in refereed journals, two books, more than 2700 citations. Coordinator of the joint M.Sc. program "Micropaleontology-Biostratigraphy" in NKUA. President of the Hellenic Committee for Paleontology and Stratigraphy of the Geological Society of Greece and Member of the Steering Committee of MECLIVAR network (Mediterranean Climate Variability and Predictability). Coordinator of the Greek-sector of IAPG (International Association for Promotion of Geoethics). Voting Member of the Sub commission on Neogene Stratigraphy and Member of the Sub commission on Cretaceous Stratigraphy, Aptian GSSP Working Group, International Commission on Stratigraphy.
