The role of the M-band myomesin proteins in muscle integrity and cardiac disease

We investigate the assembly of the sarcomere M-band and how the filament proteins of the myomesin family integrate in the protein interactions network. We have found several myomesin variants that can be linked to various cardiac diseases, either under to general category of Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), or Tetralogy of Fallot, or Sudden Cardiac Death.
Our work is focusing on the structural biology and biophysical characterisation of the M-band in collaboration with cell biology laboratories.
