Nicholas V. Sarlis was born in Athens in 1969. He got his degree in Physics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1991 and his Doctorate in Physics by the same University in 1997. His PhD Thesis was supported by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) program 26047/1992 No.1566. He worked as Researcher in the Solid Earth Physics Institute and was elected Lecturer in the Section of Solid State Physics in 2001.

Now, he serves as Professor of Experimental Solid State Physics (27/6/2017) in the same Section of the Physics Department. As in middle 2023, he has authored 2 monographs, more than 155 peer-reviewed scientific publications, contributed 80 communications to conferences, leading to an h-index greater than or equal to 36 (Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science).
