We live in a period of continuous change, at least in the media sector. Undoubtedly the structure and the performance of the media systems have changed from the 1980s onwards. This period has been associated with changes in media policy as well as a series of technological developments which have either directly, or indirectly, had an influence on policy choices towards the media sector. Emerging channels, including the Internet, mobile and other interactive media, are outperforming their traditional counterparts and seizing market share from them.
