Evangelia Galanaki is Professor of Developmental Psychology in the Department of Pedagogy and Primary Education, School of Education, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. She is school psychologist (MSc) and certified cognitive-behavioral therapist (European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies). She has also received training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy (1st Psychiatric Clinic, NKUA). She completed her PhD at the Department of Psychology NKUA with a grant from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. She is Director of the Psychology Laboratory of the Department of Pedagogy and Primary Education. She has served as Coordinator of the Developmental Psychology Section of the Hellenic Psychological Society (HPS) and as Associate Editor in Psychology, the Journal of the HPS. She is member of the Editorial Board of several international and Greek journals. Her theoretical and research interests focus on social and emotional development in childhood and adolescence (loneliness, solitude, egocentrism), emerging adulthood and transition to adulthood, school adjustment (classroom life, student-teacher relationship), behaviour problems and psychopathology (bullying and victimization, social withdrawal), and psychoanalytic perspectives on development and education. She has authored four books, seven self-help guides, and over 100 empirical and theoretical studies in Greek and international journals and in edited volumes.
