  • Strategic Relations Between the U.S. and Turkey, 1979-2000: Sleeping With a Tiger (London, Routledge, 2014).
  • Turkey, Anglo-American Security Interests 1945-1952; The First Enlargement of NATO (London, Frank Cass, 1999)


She is the editor of the collective volumes: Fighting Organized Crime in Southeast Europe (London, Routledge, 2005); United in Diversity? European Integration and Political Cultures (London, I.B. Tauris, 2008).

Ekavi Athanassopoulou is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Southeast European and Black Sea Studies (London), having previously served as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Mediterranean Politics (London) (2002 - 2010).

She has been Research Associate of the Balkan International Affairs, LSE Ideas, London School of Economics.  She has been Research Associate at the Centre for Near and Middle Eastern Studies, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She has held appointments as Visiting Scholar at the University of Bilgi (Istanbul), as German Marshall Fund of the USA European Fellow at the Pacific Council on International Policy (Los Angeles), as Visiting Scholar at the Kokkalis Program, on Southeastern and East-Central Europe at the JFK School of Government, Harvard University and as Visiting Research Fellow at the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as at the Western European Union Institute for Security Studies (Paris).
