About me

Elina Giannakaki is Lecturer at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, Department of Physics of Physics, Section of Environmental Physics-Meteorology. She was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. She received her B.Sc. in Physics from University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2002), her M.Sc. in Environmental Physics from University of Thessaloniki, Greece, (2004) and her PhD in Atmospheric Physics from University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2009). She performed postgraduate research in Leibniz TROPOS, Leipzig, Germany (2009 - 2010) and in Finnish Meteorological Institute, Kuopio, Finland. She was tenured as Lecturer in 2014.  Her research focuses on lidar measurements of the atmospheric Raman scattering in the UV and VIS and retrieval of micro-physical properties using inversion techniques. She has published 40 papers in international journals and 124 in conference proceedings . Her published work has more than 1500 citations (excluding self citations) with H-index 21. She supervised 12 postgraduate dissertations and participated in 16 projects (in 3 of them was coordinator).  She is member of the Editorial Board of the journal Atmposphere, and contributed as referee in 8 scientific journals. She has received scholarship from the National Institution of Scholarships during her postgraduate and postdoc studies in Thessaloniki, Greece.
