Georgios Giannakopoulos is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and Associate Professor at the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), based at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, “Aghia Sophia” Children’s Hospital. He trained in medicine at NKUA and completed postgraduate studies in health promotion and education, followed by doctoral research on the early identification of emotional and behavioural problems at school. He further specialised in child and adolescent psychiatry at NKUA and received international training in family-centred cognitive interventions at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. His research focuses on child and adolescent mental health, particularly in relation to parental mental health and family functioning. His work spans clinical, psychosocial, and preventive dimensions of youth mental health, and he has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research supervision, and international scholarly reviewing.
