Short bio

Georgios P. Giannakopoulos is a child and adolescent psychiatrist. He was born in Athens, Greece. He received his MD from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) in 2003 and continued his postgraduate studies in health promotion and education (MSc, 2006) and early identification of emotional/behavioral problems at school (PhD, 2011). He completed his specialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Department of Child Psychiatry of the School of Medicine of the NKUA,  at "Agia Sofia" Children’s Hospital, where he how serves as Assistant Professor. He has also received international training in family-centered cognitive interventions, including Let’s Talk about Children and Family Talk Intervention, at the National Institute for Health and Welfare, Finland (2011–2013). His research focuses on trauma, family dynamics, and the impact of parental mental health on children. He has published over 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to book chapters and conference proceedings. His published work has more than 1600 citations with H-index 25. He co-supervised several postgraduate dissertations and participates actively in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in child and adolescent psychiatry and health promotion. Dr. Giannakopoulos has participated in numerous research projects, both as a contributor and as a principal investigator. He is a member of various scientific societies and has served as a reviewer for 50 international journals. His clinical and academic work is dedicated to advancing evidence-based approaches to child and adolescent mental health care.
