WHY ARE PLANTS IMPORTANT ?
Plants are a fascinating kingdom that play a crucial role in keeping our planet alive. Even if we manage to overcome diseases like cancer, AIDS, and SARS CoV2, our survival will always depend on these remarkable autotrophs and their incredible products. Plants:
- Enable us to breathe.
- Regulate the environment we live in.
- Incorporate nutrients in our food chain.
- Provide us with plant natural products (PNP).
- Supply the fuels we need for our daily lives.
By analyzing pivotal genes at the genetic, molecular, and biochemical levels, we can understand their biological function and involvement in regulatory networks, gaining insights into the mechanisms of plant growth and development. Thus, by using multidisciplinary approaches, we can develop novel plants with unique features and properties.
