Curriculum Vitae

Marios Koukounaras-Liagkis studied Theology (ΒΑ, ΜΑ, PhD) Greek Literature (BA), and Education Sciences (PostDoc). He is an Associate Professor of Pedagogy and Religious Education at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and he directs the Laboratory of Pedagogy and RE at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He worked as a Religious Education teacher and as a Consultant to the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs.

His research interests focus on Religious Education (Learning and Teaching), Curriculum (Philosophy, Development and Assessment), Teacher’s professional development, Human Rights/Competences for Democratic Culture, Inclusive Education, Social Pedagogy and Drama/Theatre in Education. His publications include 8 books and a numerus of articles.

He is currently working as a coordinator on an Erasmus+ (KA2) project on the teaching of Competencies of Democratic Culture, as director of a Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Entity of the NKUA (>20 educatioanal and training programmes), as an expert in the RE Curriculum development (Institute of Educational Policy) and as a project trainer and expert in 'School for all'-Integration of refugee children in Greek Schools (Wergeland Centre and Minister of Education and Religious Affairs).
