Traduthèque is an online bibliographical database that includes all Greek translations of French and Francophone literature from 1900 to 2020. The database offers an open and flexible search tool where the visitor can search by name (author or translator) and by title (original or translation).
The aim of the project was to create a usable search tool for the general public and an up-to-date guide for the researcher to investigate both the translation fate of authors and literary works in the Greek-speaking world and the position of the Greek translator of French literature both in synchronic and diachronic terms, thus contributing to the History and Sociology of Translation. At present, the database includes 5,243 titles of literary works (prose, poetry and theatre). The database is currently under construction and will soon be enriched with more data as regards the description of the works.
The development of the database was carried out in the framework of the postdoctoral research of Fanis Sofronidou entitled: "French literature translated into Greek: bibliography, history and critical analysis of translations and portraits of translators from 1900 to the present day".
The research was co-funded by Greece and the European Union (European Social Fund) through the Operational Programme "Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning", in the framework of the Act "Support for Postdoctoral Researchers - Cycle B" (MIS-5033021), implemented by the Foundation for State Scholarships (IKY).
