Teaching writing

The course familiarises students with instructional approaches to teaching EFL writing, such as product, process, genre and literacy approaches to writing. It presents the theoretical basis of each instructional approach, it discusses the role of writers, writing materials and teachers, and it analyses writing activities from each of one of the approaches. It then moves to discuss different types of writing activities and tasks as well as ways of assessing performance. The third and final part of the course provides students with opportunities for practice and project work on a variety of topics.
