Pantelis X. Kostis is an Assistant Professor of Economic Development in the Department of Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He is also a member of the Associate Faculty at the Hellenic Open University, and previously taught as a Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak in India. In addition, he teaches in graduate programs at the University of Athens and serves as an instructor in distance learning programs at the same institution. He is the academic coordinator for the Erasmus+ student mobility, Erasmus+ internships, and Erasmus+ CIVIS for the Department of Economics at the University of Athens. Furthermore, he is elected member in the Panhellenic Federation of Associations of Teaching and Research Staff (POSDEP) (2024–2027) and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Faculty Members of the School of Economics and Political Sciences at the University of Athens. Furthermore, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Planning and Economic Research (KEPE).

His research has been published in distinguished international academic journals, including the Journal of Comparative Economics, Economic Modelling, the Journal of Socio-Economics, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Technovation, and the Journal of Business Research. He is the author of numerous books on economic development and growth, as well as the European and Greek economy, published by the international publishers Palgrave MacMillan, Springer, Edward Elgar, IGI Global, and IntechOpen. He has also contributed chapters to numerous edited volumes and participated in many international scientific conferences and research projects. His total research output to date includes more than 1,400 citations (in the Google Scholar database). For the 2023–2024 academic year, he received the honorary “Excellence in Research” award from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (ADA: 98ΣΗ46ΨΖ2Ν-ΙΔ6).

He is the Principal Investigator of the “HORIZON EUROPE” research program for the research project titled “EDU-LAB: European youth in education and in transition to the labor market” (code 101132345), which is funded by the European Union (HORIZON-CL2-2023-TRANSFORMATIONS-01) for the period 2025–2027. In addition, he has served as principal investigator and a member of the research team for numerous research projects.

He is Editor of the book series "Palgrave Studies in the Future of the European Economies and Societies" published by Palgrave Macmillan. He also serves as a Senior Associate Editor for the “Journal of the Knowledge Economy,” the “Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” and the “International Journal of Social Ecology and Sustainable Development,” as well as a Guest Editor for special issues of academic journals and a member of the editorial boards of academic journals.

Ο Παντελής X. Κωστής είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Οικονομικής Ανάπτυξης στο Τμήμα Οικονομικών Επιστημών του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (ΕΚΠΑ). Είναι επίσης μέλος Συνεργαζόμενου Εκπαιδευτικού Προσωπικού στο Ελληνικό Ανοιχτό Πανεπιστήμιο, ενώ παλαιότερα, έχει διδάξει ως Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής στο Indian Institute of Management Rohtak στην Ινδία. Επιπρόσθετα, είναι διδάσκων σε Μεταπτυχιακά Προγράμματα του ΕΚΠΑ και εκπαιδευτής σε προγράμματα εξ αποστάσεως εκπαίδευσης στο ίδιο ίδρυμα. Είναι ο ακαδημαϊκός υπεύθυνος των προγραμμάτων Erasmus+ μετακίνηση φοιτητών, Erasmus+ πρακτική άσκηση και Erasmus+ CIVIS για το Τμήμα Οικονομικών Επιστημών του ΕΚΠΑ. Επιπρόσθετα, είναι Σύνεδρος της Πανελλήνιας Ομοσπονδίας Συλλόγων Διδακτικού και Ερευνητικού Προσωπικού (ΠΟΣΔΕΠ) (2024-2027) και διατελεί Πρόεδρος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Συλλόγου Διδασκόντων της Σχολής Οικονομικών και Πολιτικών Επιστημών του ΕΚΠΑ. Επιπλέον, διατελεί μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Κέντρου Προγραμματισμού και Οικονομικών Ερευνών (ΚΕΠΕ).

Η έρευνά του έχει δημοσιευτεί σε διακεκριμένα διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του Journal of Comparative Economics, του Economic Modelling, του Journal of Socio-Economics, του Technological Forecasting and Social Change, του Technovation και του Journal of Business Research. Είναι συγγραφέας πλήθους βιβλίων για την οικονομική ανάπτυξη και μεγέθυνση και την ευρωπαϊκή και την ελληνική οικονομία που έχουν εκδοθεί από τους διεθνείς εκδοτικούς οίκους Palgrave MacMillan, Springer, Edward Elgar, IGI Global και IntechOpen. Έχει συνεισφέρει επίσης σε πλήθος Συλλογικών Τόμων με κεφάλαια και σε πολλά διεθνή επιστημονικά συνέδρια και σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα. Το συνολικό του ερευνητικό έργο παρουσιάζει έως σήμερα περισσότερες από 1400 παραθέσεις (στη βάση του Google Scholar). Για το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2023-2024 έλαβε το τιμητικό βραβείο «Αριστείας στην Έρευνα» από το Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (ΑΔΑ: 98ΣΗ46ΨΖ2Ν-ΙΔ6).
