6.Byzantine Hymnology and Music (MSc course]

The cognitive object of the course includes the study of church music and hymnology from the ancient times of the Church up to the present day. The three periods of Byzantine Melos (old, middle and new) will be studied, the characteristics of the church music of Byzantium (systematization and reform of the musical notation, etc.), the forms of the hymns (harmonies, tropes, stocks, rules, etc.) as well as the work of the great composers and melodies of the Orthodox East.

1.Introduction to Divine Worship and contemporary ritual themes

The course is an introduction to the branch of liturgy, so that students get to know the liturgical formulas, our hymnographic tradition, the Christian temple and its symbolism, Christian mysteries and their history.  In addition, every year we will be concerned with a topic of liturgical interest and contemporary reflection.

2.History and theology of Divine Worship

The science of research and interpretation of the type of worship is called liturgy, which is the branch of the science of Theology, which studies Christian Worship, public, but also private prayer.  In this series of liturgical lessons we will examine the genesis and evolution of the treasure of our liturgical tradition through the sources, as well as the connection between Christian and Jewish worship.  In addition, we will emphasize the mysteries of baptism and anointing, from their divine establishment until the end of the 4th Century.

5.The liturgical rebirth in the Greek Church (Possibilities and conditions) (Master)

The study of the specific cognitive object aims to inform postgraduate students about the issue of liturgical rebirth-renewal, which has been intensely preoccupying the Orthodox Church in recent years. We will focus on the renewal efforts of the Greek Church, on the study of the work of the "Special Synodal Committee for the Liturgical Revival of the Church of Greece", as well as the conditions for the renewal of worship in relation to issues that involve the most active participation of the people in Divine Worship, liturgical language, the position of women in liturgical life Ms.

7.Milestones of the ecclesiastical Typikon (MSc course)

The content of the course includes the study, analysis and interpretation of the Liturgical Types, which were formed from the very first Christian centuries and are compositions of the local traditions mainly of the East, but also of the Christian West. In addition, within the course, we analyze the most important stages in the evolution of the asmatic (parish) and monastic liturgy up to the fall of Constantinople, as well as the content and special characteristics of the two types of worship, which ultimately led to the formation of the modern liturgy act of the Orthodox Church.
