Georgia Sotiropoulou is an Assistant Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, Department of Physics, Section of Environmental Physics and Meteorology. She was born in Athens, Greece. She received her B.Sc. in Physics from University of Athens, Greece (2009), her M.Sc. in Meteorology and Environmental Science from the same university (2012) and her PhD in Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography from Stockholm University, Sweden (2016). She conducted postgraduate research at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland (2018-2019), at Stockholm University, Sweden (2020-2021) and at the Foundation for Research and Technology, Greece (2021-2023). Her research focuses on cloud-aerosol-turbulence interactions using field measurements and atmospheric models of various scales. She has published 20 papers in international journals, 55 in conference proceedings and 1 book chapter. Her published work has 470 citations with h-index 11. She has participated in 6 projects (in 2 of them as principal investigator). She contributes as referee to 9 journals. She is the chairwoman of the QuIESCENT (QUantifying the arctic Indirect Effect: from Sources to Climate Effects of Natural and Transported aerosols) international programme and an affiliated researcher at the Laboratory of Atmospheric Processes and their Impacts, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland. She has received a scholarship from the National Institute of Scholarships during her undergraduate studies and a Marie-Curie fellowship from the European Commission.
