About me

Ι am Associate Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Mathematics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (since 2021). I have worked at the same university as a Lecturer (2011-2015) and as Assistant Professor (2016-2020). Ι received my first degree in Mathematics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (1991) and my PhD in Mathematics Education with the use of digital tools from the same University (2005).

My teaching interests include mathematics education, integration and use of digital technologies in mathematics education as well as teaching of mathematics in secondary schools. I have taught several courses in these areas in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Department of Mathematics.  I have supervised more than 35 master theses and 3 doctoral theses at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

My fields of research interest include:

  • the design of learning environments for mathematics with the use of digital technologies,
  • students’ construction of mathematical meanings with the use of digital tools,
  • connection of mathematics teaching to authentic situations, and 
  • mathematics teacher education at the level of prospective and practicing teachers as well as at the level of teacher educators.
I have participated in more than twelve STEM related European and international projects and I have more than 60 publications in peered reviewed journals, books, and refereed conference proceedings.
