Dr. Stavros Kolios was studied Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Also, he completed the Master Degree Program "Environmental Physics" in the same Department. During his graduate and postgraduate studies acquired specialized knowledge regarding GIS and geo-statistics. He, completed his PhD at the University of the Aegean, Department of Geography in Physical Geography with emphasis on satellite meteorology. He has participated over 15 research / developmental Projects (Principal Investigator in two of them), and he is main author in the majority of his publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals (Citations: 244, h-index = 10, average journal impact factor: 2.4, source: Scopus, 01/07/2024). He is also main author of the scientific book entitled “GIS and Environmental Monitoring: Applications in the Marine, Atmospheric and Geomagnetic Fields” published from Springer. Since 2021 is Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Science &Technology, National Kapodistrian University of Athens and he is teaching in courses related to digital image processing and satellite remote sensing.
