A Competitive Intelligence Cloud/HPC Platform for AI-based STI Policy Making

IntelComp sets out to build an innovative Cloud Platform that will offer Artificial Intelligence based services to public administrators and policy makers across Europe for data- and evidence-driven policy design and implementation in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy. Large STI datasets are processed on High Performance Computing (HPC) environment part of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) imitative.

Circular Economy Transition (CE) in Smart Specialization Strategy(S3)

The EU has set an ambitious plan for the adoption and implementation of the Circular Economy (CE). The Plan estimates that by 2030 the integration of CE will result in savings of over 600 billion EUR for EU businesses, will create 580,000 new jobs and will contribute to the reduction of 450 million tons greenhouse gases. Member States are key players in Europe’s transition to a circular economy.

Cross border regional labour Market Analysis

The project will assess existing experience of cross-border labour market analysis across Europe and develop guidance on how to conduct such analysis at the regional level. Over the course of 18 months, a project team will investigate the potentials and obstacles and provide suggestions on how to overcome them. The project will also tap into the knowledge of this community by involving cross-border practitioners through surveys, interviews and case studies. 

Enhancing the take-up of FIs under the European Social Fund

A study investigating how the Greek government can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of projects supported by the European Social Fund Plus in the 2021-2027 Programming Period. The project, launched and funded by the European Investment Bank is to identify whether and how ESF+ could be used for financial instruments and a novel means of supporting social policies in Greece. It Is expected that the leveraging and revolving nature of financial instruments will not only increase the volume of funds earmarked for social goals but also improve their effectiveness.

European Commission’s 100 Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC)

The Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC) is a European Commission initiative supporting European cities towards the green and digital transition of their local economies, through Local Green Deals.  ICC helps European cities harness the power of cutting-edge technologies, while improving their economic competitiveness, social resilience and their citizens' quality of life.

Ex post evaluation of Cohesion Policy programmes 2007-2013, focusing on the ERDF and CF; Work Package 13: Geography of expenditure

This project collected data on the NUTS 3 regional breakdown of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Cohesion Fund (CF) programmes under the Convergence, Regional Competitiveness and Employment (RCE) and the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) Objectives. Regarding the latter, the focus was on Cross-border Cooperation (CBC) programmes only. For this, the project identified the cumulative allocations to selected projects as well as the expenditure at NUTS 3 level, broken down by the 86 priority themes, for the period 2007-2013.

Fostering collaboration through mapping, analysing and interlinking of European Entrepreneurial Regions (Phases I, II)

The objectives of the EER project are to:
- Support the development of necessary framework conditions for entrepreneurs to thrive in regions
- Inter-connect public authorities in regions to work on better support entrepreneurial ecosystems
- Identify synergies and complementarities between entrepreneurial regions 
- Avoid fragmentation of efforts and share knowledge across regions.

International study on Scientific Service Companies

The target of this report, commissioned by Technopolis Group on behalf of Deutsches Elektronen Synchroton (DESY), was to understand how Scientific Service Companies (SSCs) can be created and grow. Research in Commercial Analytical Research Organisations (CAROs), Contract Research Organisations (CROs) and Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) helped identifying SSCs in the area of New Materials, which were used as a case to understand at least one segment of the market, which may be used as a pilot to expand to other sectors as well.

Monitoring the performance of EU industry and industrial ecosystems

The general objective of this project is to effectively and efficiently support the implementation of the EC's industrial strategy, by implementing a monitoring framework and providing analytical and operational support to the Industrial Forum EC expert group. The specific objectives are:

Open Science Impact Pathways – PathOS

PathOS is a Horizon Europe project, which aims at contributing to a better understanding and measurement of Open Science (OS) impacts and their causal mechanisms. It will collect concrete evidence of Open Science effects, by studying the pathways of OS practices, from input to output to outcome and impact. Impacts and pathways will be developed in the areas of science, society and the economy.

Peer review of the Estonian R & I system

The project, carried out under the Policy Framework Facility signed by the NKUA with Technopolis, concerns the review of the Estonian R&I system. A review panel is created to visit agents and express opinions on the improvement of national policies.

Pilot project measuring what matters to EU citizens: social progress (SPI) in the European regions

The aim of the project is to test how the EU-SPI could be used to inform and improve policy making in relation to policies supported by cohesion policy. The project also aims to identify best practices of its use and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and in the assessment of the EU-SPI in the broader context of the beyond GDP initiative and so to identify aspects to be improved and inform the EU-SPI developers by providing insights on how to improve the next editions of the index.
