Dimitrios Fragkis: Dimitris graduated from the Department of Chemistry, University of Patras with honors for both his BSc and MSc. He started his PhD in April 2024 in our group funded by HFRI under the CEPTr project. He is currently researching syn-bimetallic and trimetallic Ni complexes and their ansa-like metallocene precursors, to access Ni imido and molecular well-defined oxo/hydroxo complexes.
Dr Polidoros-Chrisovalantis Ioannou: Polidoros completed his PhD at NKUA/National Research Institute of Greece (EIE) researching novel chiral phosphite ligands. He is crruntly working towards Cu(I/II) complexes supported by f-CArAC (fused Cyclic Aryl Amino Carbenes) ligands.
Past Members:
Dr Grigorios Raptopoulos: Grigoris completed his PhD at NKUA and worked for a few months at the CEPTr project, before assuming a permanent position at the Greek State’s Chemical Laboratories.
Ioannis Vagiakos: Ioannis (Giannis) graduated with honors from NKUA. For his MSc studies he worked in our lab researching low coordinate 1st row transition metal complexes supported by bulky aryloxide ligands tailored to promote M-arene interactions. As part of these studies, he spent 6 months at TUM at the group of Dr Dominik P. Halter, where he did lots of electrochemistry. This work has recently been published. Giannis has recently moved to the University of Bern for his PhD under the supervision of Professor Eva Hevia.
Stefanos Tselepis-Karakonstantis: Stefanos did his final year BSc project at our lab researching the reactivity of the low valent titanium complex [Ti(η5-{CpMe4(SiMe2tBu)})2] with organic azides.
Alexandros Paraskeuas and Panagiotis Xatzipetros: Alexandros and Panagiotis were the first members of my group to do their final year BSc project jointly. Their work investigated the unexplored reactivity of [Ti(η5-{CpMe4(SiMe2tBu)})2] and help establish facets of it as a running theme of our lab. After their graduation with honors, they both completed their national service. After that, Alexandros received a Bodosakis Foundation Scholarship to undertake his MSc (with Prof Kokotos), while Panagiotis is currently employed by Bennet Pharmaceuticals.
