ABOUT ME

I am a Professor at the Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and a Teaching Staff member at the Hellenic Open University. I served as a Faculty Affiliate at the University of Charleston (USA, 2018–2023) and a Supervisor at the Institute of Educational Policy (2020–2024), focusing on Physical Sciences, Technology, and Mathematics.

Leadership & Coordination

I am the Scientific Documentation Coordinator at the National Geological Museum and Scientific Coordinator at the Geological Museum of Apeiranthos. I have been Regional Vice President of CERF-JCR since 2017 and served as President of the Greek Committee of Geomorphology and Environment from 2016 to 2018.

Research & Education

I hold two PhDs—one in geomorphology and GIS from the University of Athens, and another in geoarchaeology and GIS from the University of Franche-Comté, France. My research focuses on geomorphology, geoarchaeology, sea-level changes, palaeogeography, geocultural heritage, GIS, climate-change-related natural hazards, and adaptation strategies.

Awards & Recognition

  • Two awards from the Academy of Athens: one in 2013 for promoting geological knowledge and another in 2019 for my monograph Sea Level Changes.
  • Elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2022.
  • Received both the 1st Innovation Award and the 1st Blue Economy Award in 2024 for Nature-Based Solutions against coastal erosion.

Initiatives & Community

I am the founder and director of the Postgraduate Program in Geographic Information Systems (NKUA) and the initiator of the International Day of Women in Geomorphology.
