Bio

I am a Professor of Didactics of Geography at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. I earned my PhD in “Approaches to Teaching Dynamic Geographical Phenomena” from the Democritus University of Thrace, and I specialized in Teaching Advanced Placement Human Geography at the University of Oregon, USA.

At NKUA, I head the Laboratory of Teaching & Epistemology of Science and Educational Technology in the Department of Pedagogy and Primary Education. I also lead a joint PhD program between NKUA and TSU, titled “Governance and Administration in Education and Science.”

I serve as Coordinator and Senior Researcher in four international and twenty European and national research projects in my areas of specialization. I am also an active member of national, European, and international academic associations related to my field.

Earlier in my career, I spent ten years at the Pedagogical Institute of Greece, where I developed more than six curricula for primary and secondary education, two for inclusive education, and three for the professional development of teachers and school leaders. I have given over 40 lectures and workshops on capacity building for educators, and I have evaluated numerous research projects and educational materials.

I have had the opportunity to collaborate with leading institutions in Greece such as the Gennadius Library, the Archaeological Society at Athens, and the Ancient Agora, contributing to the design of educational tools and digital applications for enhancing museum and library visits. I also work with the Laskaridis Foundation and the Foundation of the Hellenic World on non-formal education projects related to science and cultural geography.

To date, I have authored 15 books and published over 30 scientific articles and invited chapters in peer-reviewed journals and academic volumes.
