Abstract:

Professor Irene Kamberidou represented the Department of Sociology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens—with a presentation that spotlighted women’s agency and self-expression—at the 58th ARAM Society for Syro-Mesopotamian Studies international conference organized by the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies of the University of Oxford, UK on July 6-8, 2026. The conference theme “Orientalism and the Levant during the Second Half of the Second Millennium (1500-2000) and Western Educational Missions in the Levant, 1300-1945” attracted globally renowned participants to Oxford. http://www.aramsociety.org/

Η καθηγήτρια Ειρήνη Καμπερίδου εκπροσώπησε το Τμήμα Κοινωνιολογίας του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών—με μια παρουσίαση που ανέδειξε τη γυναικεία εμπειρία και δράση στη διαχείριση και επίλυση επειγόντων και συγκρουσιακών καταστάσεων —στο 58ο διεθνές συνέδριο της "ARAM Society for Syro-Mesopotamian Studies" που διοργάνωσε η Σχολή Ασιατικών και Μεσανατολικών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου της Οξφόρδης, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, στις 6-8 Ιουλίου 2026.  Σύμφωνα με την εισήγηση της κας Καμπερίδου, οι γυναίκες έπαιρναν πρωτοβουλίες και καινοτομούσαν: είχαν καθοριστικό ρόλο στην φροντίδα περίθαλψη των προσφύγων, στην κοινωνική μέριμνα και στη δημόσια υγεία.
